Nigel Barker on ‘America’s Next Top Model’ Shakeup: I Don’t Think It’s a Good Idea
Posted by: | Comments Comments OffAccording to Nigel Barker, “America’s Next Top Model” might have made a mistake by firing him and two other longtime co-stars. Commenting on The CW’s decision not to renew his contract, the former model said, “I don’t necessarily think it’s a good idea.”

The English photographer, who had been a judge on the show since the first season, believed he got the boot because the network wants to completely revamp the show, but he doubts that this strategy will work. “Who knows if this is going to work?” he told TMZ. “Maybe it will work. Maybe it won’t. I wish them luck.”
One thing that may be a great challenge for the show, according to Barker, is to find his replacement as he said, “I would imagine it’s a tricky thing to replace someone who’s going on their 19th season.” The 39-year-old went on adding, “Good luck to whoever [replaces me].”
In another interview with E! Online, Barker said he was not shocked by the firing. “It wasn’t a shock,” so he claimed. “I’m friends with Tyra and the producers. There had been a discussion that ratings were down and that something like this would happen.”
He even revealed that there had been discussions about him getting eliminated from the show in the previous years, but he “survived the chopping block.” Noting that it’s not Tyra Banks’ decision to cut him, he insisted, “This isn’t a Tyra thing. This is a network thing.”
He continued affirming that he maintains a good relationship with the show’s host as saying, “We had an incredible run and there aren’t any hard feelings.”
Barker is now planning his own TV show that focuses on “some of [his] passions like photography.” Sharing updates from the show’s development, he revealed, “We’re looking at producing and directing a number of projects. There are several scripts we’re looking at right now.”
Barker is not the only one who got axed from “ANTM”. J. Alexander, who had been a runaway coach since the second season, and photo shoot director Jay Manuel, who had appeared since the inaugural season, will not return to the upcoming 19th cycle of the reality series as well.
‘America’s Next Top Model’ Renewed for Season 19, Going to College
Posted by: | Comments Comments OffWhile still gearing up to premiere the 18th cycle of “America’s Next Top Model“, The CW has already renewed the reality series for a 19th season. Confirming the new season pick-up, a representative for the network reveals the said installment will be the show’s inaugural college edition.

With such new twist, the modeling competition will head to campuses across the nation to cast the contestants. It is expected to premiere in the fall, but no further details are available regarding the 19th cycle.
Prior to launching the first college-themed season, “ANTM” will debut its 18th installment Wednesday, February 29 at 9 P.M. on The CW. In this “British Invasion” edition, seven models from previous seasons of “Britain’s Next Top Model” will compete with seven American model hopefuls.
A cast photo and a preview video from the 18th cycle have recently been released for sneak peeks. Tyra Banks will return as the judge alongside Kelly Cutrone and Nigel Barker. Detailed info on the contestants can be seen on the show’s official site.

Brittani Kline has been crowned the winner of “America’s Next Top Model” for Cycle 16 on Wednesday, May 18. The 5 ft 10.5 inch model beat Molly O’Connell on the finale after filming a CoverGirl commercial, doing a photo shoot for Vogue Italia, and walking the final runaway for Vivienne Westwood’s Anglomania line.

Nineteen-year-old Brittani charmed the judges with her strut despite the fact that she fell after slipping on some rose petals, crashed into a wall, twisted her ankle and cut her wrist. Tyra Banks admitted, “That girl’s got something. I thought your pose was divine.”
At the panel, the judges decided the winner after examining carefully the girls’ photos and work throughout the season. Brittani got the title as she brought a fresh character to each new assignment, while Molly portrayed the same characterization in almost every single shot.
Brittani’s way to be a champion on “America’s Next Top Model” was not an easy one. She shed some tears throughout the competition and had to overcome her lack of confidence, but has since grown as a professional model.
As the winner, the Beech Creek native, whose mother is suffering from an anxiety disorder, will be featured in a CoverGirl campaign and get a $100,000 contract with the company. She will additionally receive a contract with IMG Models.

America’s Next Top Model Season 16 Episode 9 “Franca Sozzani” Review
Posted by: | Comments Comments OffCycle 16 of America’s Next Top Model is already winding down to the finale. It seems like only yesterday that we started hating on Alexandria, who’s fast proving to be a finale contender for the title of America’s Next Top Model…16th edition. The models shot in exotic Morocco in “Franca Sozzani” with a camel! Let’s break it down.

The Challenge:
The girls first arrive at Marrakech, which looks like an amazing Arabian Nights-esqe backdrop, complete with snake charmers and pretty cute monkeys.
The girls are treated to delicious little treats and taken to a local Marrekech designer with Andre Leon Talley where they’re promptly asked to walk in haute couture outfits. The designs are earthy and reminiscent of the desert; perfect for Marrekech.
The first disaster in Morocco strikes as Kasia can’t find a dress to fit her. Despite being disappointed, they find a skirt for the girl and she walks quite well. Meanwhile, Brittani is praised for her high-fashion walk while Kasia impresses Andre by bringing her heels. She managed to salvage the lack of clothing!
The rooftop Moroccan penthouse for the girls is stunning! Although of course Tyra couldn’t resist putting her pictures everywhere; how does she have time to do that?? And really Tyra, vain much?
Molly’s been complaining more so than usual and she’s pissed about the fact that she has to share a bed with other girls; has Molly become the new Alexandria?
The Photoshoot:
You just know the photoshoot is going to be exciting when Mr. Jay arrives on top of a camel with the most exotic costume possible! It reminds me of the fabulous shoot in Cycle 6 with the elephants!
The girls seems a little antsy on top of the elephant, but most of them pull off quite elegant shots. Brittani seems most “at one” with the camel while Molly was “tense” in a modelesque way.
Predictably, Alexandria is controlling and high-maintenance during the photoshoot, and if Mr. Jay can predict it, she’s in trouble. The photographer, Michael Woolley doesn’t seem to like her vibe very much either, which will hopefully put her in trouble.
Kasia’s not having a good episode; from her insecurity over her weight to being too pose-y and breaking down at the photoshoot, her chances at panel don’t seem to be good.
Judges’s Table:
The guest judge is Franca Sozzani, the venerable editor-in-chief of Vogue Italia. The girls best be on their best behaviors if they want to impress this lady! Her critiques are much harsher but also more specific than Tyra’s or Nigels. I would take this as a sign of true experience and knowledge in fashion.
The judges also seem rather split in their decisions; in the end, Molly comes out on top! Guess her nasty attitude gave her some edge. She’s followed by Brittani and Hannah.
At the bottom are Kasia and Alexandria. At this point, you would think Alexandria would go home after being chastised repeatedly about her attitude, but the drama queens always stay in ANTM. Kasia is sent home for her insecurity.
Overall, a fun and upbeat episode, if only because Morocco seems so fun and different, providing unique opportunities for photoshoots. It’ll definitely be exciting to watch the girls try to navigate the pitfalls of cultural customs; it’s never been a strong point of ANTM contestants (remember Japan?)
As a bonus, let’s discuss the fact that next cycle of ANTM is pulling a Top Chef and bringing back their All-Stars! All the girls who almost made it will come back to compete; you know what this means. Amazing photos; crazy drama. Is anyone else secretly hoping dreading that Jade Cole will come back?

Without further delay, I want you to know something about those contestants, who will be appearing in the forthcoming America’s Next Top Model episodes.
It is really interesting to know, that all of them are really talented and impressively gorgeous.
All the chosen models are no less than the contestants, who appeared in the last season of the show.
Last year, America’s Next Top Model gave identity, fame and other exciting contracts to Ann Ward.
I really want to see, who possess a challenging personality like Ann!
She was too good!

If you want to catch this charismatic winner now, then peruse through the previous entertaining batches right here, online!
The jury has selected 14 contestants and these include Alexandria Everett, Angelia Alvarez, Britanni Kline, Britanni Kline, Dominique Waldrup, Hannah Shitz, Jaclyn Poole, Kasia Pilewicz, Mikaela Schipani, Molly O’Connell, Monique Weingart, Nicole Lucas, Ondrei Aroe, and Sara Longoria.

I think Ondrei is one of the models, who can give an open challenge to everyone!
The other contestants are either students or unemployed, but Ondrei is someone, who was handling retail as a salesperson.
She was dealing with the outer world, while others were still busy juggling their books.

Promoting the 16th cycle of “America’s Next Top Model“, Tyra Banks steps up the game by releasing a video where she’s typical contestants trying out for the show. She begins with giggly blonde girl who loves Hello Kitty as a designer and would do “anything” to be America’s next top model except cut the hair.

The second girl Tyra portrays is model with attitude. “I’m not here to make friends,” says the typical model number two. She has a tattoo of her name which makes up ANTM when abbreviated. The last girl is a goth model who pretends she doesn’t want to be on the show. “I’m not a cookie cutter, I cut the cookies,” goth girl says.
The 16th cycle will premiere February 23 on The CW. Several changes have been made including skipping the casting week and slipping a prank for the contestants. Guest judges are fashion designer Lana Marks, model and stylist Erin Wasson, Rachel Zoe and model and actress Alek Wek.

Ann Ward was crowned the winner of “America’s Next Top Model” Cycle 15 winner on Wednesday, December 1. The 18-year-old is the 6 ft., 2 in. model with the “tiniest waist” Tyra Banks had ever seen. Ward, originating from Dallas, now reveals that she gains not only prizes but also confidence through the victory.

“Going into the competition I was super insecure about myself. I had just gotten out of high school about a year ago, so I’d been through all the teenage drama, bullying and stuff,” Ward tells Billy Bush and Kit Hoover of “Access Hollywood Live” Thursday morning. Ward said growing up, she was taunted about her tall frame.
“It was really nerve racking going into the competition thinking I wasn’t going to fit it or they wouldn’t like my height, just like they did in the Dallas modeling industry, but once I was there I gained so much confidence,” she continues. “I really embraced who I was while I was there. ”
As a winner, Ward received a $100,000 contract with CoverGirl Cosmetics, a contract with IMG Models, the cover of Beauty In Vogue, fashion spreads in Vogue Italia and Beauty In Vogue, as well as a prominent feature on Vogue Italia’s website, Vogue.it.
But Ward admits that she won’t splash on luxurious items. “I don’t really want to splurge too much,” Ward says. “[I will] probably [buy] shoes, I don’t have very many shoes.”
